All-time high (ATH)

The highest recorded price an asset has reached.

Definition and explanation

An all-time high is the highest price recorded for an asset over its available trading history on a particular venue or data source. ATH comparisons can vary across exchanges, trading pairs and timeframes, so a reported high should always be interpreted with its source and market context.

Example

If BTC previously traded at $70,000 and later reaches $72,000 on the same venue and pair, the new price establishes a new all-time high for that series.
