Support and resistance
Price areas where buying or selling pressure has previously mattered.
Definition and explanation
Support is an area where buying interest has previously slowed a decline; resistance is an area where selling pressure has slowed an advance. These are zones rather than perfectly precise lines, and their relevance depends on timeframe, liquidity and changing market context.
Example
A previous swing low may be watched as potential support, but price can break through it and continue lower.
