Candlestick
A chart element showing open, high, low and close for a period.
Definition and explanation
A candlestick represents four price points for a chosen interval: open, high, low and close (OHLC). The body spans the open and close, while the wicks show the period's extremes. Candlesticks summarise price action; they do not by themselves predict future direction.
Example
On a 1-hour chart, one candle summarises the open, high, low and close observed during that hour.
