Resistance
A price area where selling pressure has previously emerged.
Definition and explanation
Resistance is a chart-analysis concept describing a price area where supply or selling pressure has previously limited advances. It is not a guaranteed ceiling. A level can be crossed, fail, or behave differently as liquidity and market conditions change.
Example
If an asset repeatedly struggles near $100, analysts may watch that area as potential resistance rather than assume price must reverse there.
